Writing competitions : A great source of encouragement for aspiring writers

Every writer is competing with their own published work. They want to be the best in their next work. But what are the factors that give them this energy? There must be some network of writers where new ideas generate and they are charged up to give their best shot. The best way to create good work is writing for competitions. Writing competitions are the best motivation for every writer because:

It challenges your writing ability

In writing challenges there is always a topic or many topics to choose from. This is the best part because at times, a writer wants to write as a habit but is short of topics. When you get a topic to write on, you feel stimulated. You choose the best one close to your niche and start working on it.

You come out of your comfort zone

But not all times you get a topic of your choice. So, what happens when you are bound to write but nothing seems to be striking? You get out of your comfort zone and your brain exercises. The brain is on high alert to search fodder for the new topic which is different and challenging. There is a sort of electric energy inside that pushes you to research and work towards winning that particular competition.

Deadline to complete

Writers are creative people. And creativity comes with its own time. It can be in the middle of a night or never in days to come. But when you are in a competition, you have a deadline. This ensures that you finish your work in the given time limit. If you are really serious, you finish it in time and feel superb!

Rewards always motivate you

Competitions are always accompanied by rewards. This is the most engaging part for a writer. There always needs to be an encouragement so as to why a writer should manipulate their talent and write for different topics. These rewards inspire to keep writing for different competitions.

Keep the fire of writing alive

Every competition gives you a reason to write and encourages winning. You get an objective in front of you and the zeal to achieve your goal. The fire inside you is constantly increasing and you work with more power. Once you win, you get the motivation to take up another competition. You don’t fear rejection anymore.

Review peers’ work

There is so much inspiration around the world. Every writer has a different way to narrate the same story. This is the best creativity in a writer. Competitions also give a chance to read your competitors’ work and see what is their inspiration. Talent has many faces and so have the writers. There is always something to learn from others’ work.

A writer is constantly working upon their skills to excel. Many disappear in this competitive world. Only the ones who survive are recognised.

Geethica Mehra
My writings are reflections of my views towards life. I believe that whatever happens only happens for a reason. And the best happens when it is not seen. Because holding on believes that there is a past; letting go knows that there is a future. My piece of work gives me a second chance that life denies. My words help me build my character each and every day. They flow through my heart and sketch the reality on canvas. I read new articles every day and learn something new from them. And I make it a priority to write regularly. All the visuals that happen around me make a place inside my brain waiting to be penned down as beautifully as possible.
