Everyone Has a Story – By Savi Sharma

savi sharmaFeatured in Amazon India Best Reads of the month, Savi Sharma’s book is here to stay! Here’s a tete-a-tete with the young author.

I am a simple girl from Surat with simple dreams. Apart from being a writer, I am co-founder of the media blog, Life & People where we create and publish inspirational and motivational content. I’m a person of values, emotions, and ethics. I believe that an author can be better known from his/her words.

Why did you write this book?

Before this book, I wrote another book, but I thought it was immature, and not really ready for publishing. A friend advised me to write about something more personal, from the heart. Looking for inspiration, I decided to turn to myself, and the result was a book populated by characters carrying parts of me. From the idea of writing about myself comes a character looking for her first story — Meera, another one who has the urge to travel the world — Vivaan, and someone who wants to open a café — Kabir. All of them are part of me.

Everyone has a Story is an inspirational story of friendship, dreams and life with a flavour of love and romance. It’s story about Meera, a fledgling writer who is in search of a story which can touch millions of lives. Vivaan, Assistant branch manager at CitiBank who dreams of travelling the world. Kabir, café manager who desires something of his own. Nisha, the despondent customer of the café who keeps secrets of her own. Everyone has their own story yet their lives are interwoven. Together they explore friendship and love, writing their own pages of life, from the cozy café to the ends of the world.

Why do you think readers will love this book?

‘Everyone has a Story’ is intended to make the readers take a break and think about what really matters in their fast moving lives. It aims at inspiring them to follow their dreams and understand new perspective on friendship, love and life. The soul of the book is about finding and telling the stories which are confined to our hearts.

Do you balance writing with a day job?

I am a Co-Founder & Chief Content Officer at Life & People, an inspirational blog where my role is to write, curate and publish interesting articles related to Positivity, Law of Attraction, Spirituality, Meditation, etc. I spend my days on Life and People, and nights on Stories.

Your advice for aspiring authors

I am not yet at a stage where I can suggest or advice other writers, I have much more to learn. Still, I can share what I feel and follow: When I was writing the book, my purpose was to tell a story rather than thinking about publishing, distributing or marketing. Of course, these aspects are very important for reaching out to readers but consider them in phase two.

While writing the story, it’s only you and your words. Write what you feel, what your heart wants to write, and rest shall follow.

Savi’s favourite books

Some books entertain you, some inspire you and some stay with you forever. They touch your soul, change you and become your best friends. Here are my 3 favourite books:

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak:

It’s a strong powerful story narrated beautifully by Death himself. Markus Zusak presents a poignant, heart-breaking, soul-shattering yet beautiful story of Liesel, the book thief. The lyrical narration, vivid character development and profound writings about war, death, loss and love makes this book a masterpiece. Personally, this book has helped me immensely in developing as a reader and writer. I have learnt and felt the mesmerizing power of words from this books and I hope to do so in my writings as well.

To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee:

If you have to write just one book, this is the one to write. A classic that needs no introduction. This book is an eye-opener and I learned a lot of things about sadness and happiness, racism and equality, immaturity and maturity, injustice and redemption. Only after you read it, you will realise why it’s an ultimate masterpiece that has stood the test of time.

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho:

Simple, enchanting and inspiring, ‘The Alchemist’ is all about dreams, desires and destiny. This book may not score high on literature as compared to other classics but it’s sheer simplicity and wisdom makes it a must read for today’s generation. I strongly believe in Paulo’s philosophy, “When you truly want something, the whole universe conspires to help you achieve it.” It has made me the storyteller I am today.
