While books belonging to the thriller and romance categories each have their own attraction, romantic thrillers combine the best of both worlds. Done With Her…, written by Chirasree Bose, is one such book that promises to evoke a gamut of emotions as the reader glides through it.
In this interview with Writers Melon, Chirasree Bose talks about writing, making a difference through her work, and everything related to her debut novel, Done With Her…
Who is Chirasree Bose?
The simple answer to this would be “author”. But as to every author out there, the description to who Chirasree Bose really is, is so much more than just that.
“If I have to describe myself, I would say I am as prim on the outside as impish on the inside. I have this utterly different world inside my head wherein my thoughts are lurid and uncensored. Hence, despite being a private person, I am never really bored. That’s my quirk. And I enjoy every bit of it. Also, as an author, this oddity of mine really helps me weave different stories like Done With Her…”
Chirasree Bose – A Writer is Born:
The beginning of a writer’s journey becomes more special in more ways than one, when one looks at it in hindsight. When we asked Chirasree Bose about how she started writing, she recollects it fondly.
“Writing happened like a sweet coincidence. At the same time, I believe it is the strangest thing that happened to me. Nearly 3 years back, when I would often be bored at work, one day I started penning down a story. I’d thought it was just another passing hobby. However, that day changed my life forever. Because now I know how appalling a life is without a purpose and a dream. And, since then I’ve never stopped writing.”
The Writing Process:
Writing is not just an idea and a few words. It is about how you implement them and the schedule you follow to implement them. Chirasree Bose reveals how she maintains the consistency in her writing.
“I am a methodical writer and make sure that I write at least 500 words every day. I tend to freak out if I miss my writing schedule even for a day. However, I juggle writing with not only my day job but every other household chore. For instance, if I write for 10 straight minutes, then I would find myself cooking a snack for the next 10. I think that’s the story of every working woman in our country. It’s difficult. But we nail it anyway.”
About ‘Done With Her…’:
We asked Chirasree Bose to tell us a little about what Done With Her… is all about. Other than that it is a stirring tale of love, lust, obsession, and murder, this is what she has to say about her book.
“Avesh Mathur, a techie is enticed by Spreeha who, despite having a lover, keeps an eye on him. While Avesh is scared of his dark past, Spreeha reminds him of the same. But how? What tragedy awaits him? Is Spreeha as beautiful on the inside as on the outside? What happens when Avesh finally has to face the frightening truth that he’s been stashing for the last two years?
In one sentence, ‘it’s a kick in the guts’.”
‘Done With Her…’ – The USP:
It is the belief of an author in their stories that helps their books connect with people. They know what they’ve done to make it unique. And Done With Her… has not one, but multiple USPs as its author, Chirasree Bose tells us.
“It’s a dark romance thriller. It dives deep into human emotions like love, lust, and obsession. All the characters in the story have diverse layers which make them complex and difficult to fathom. It’s the revelation, however, that makes this story an unique one. Like the blurb says, the revelation would stab at your subconscious.
Readers will love the thrill, the multi-layered characters, the dark backdrop, and the message which it conveys.”
Why Did Chirasree Bose Write ‘Done With Her…’?
Many authors believe that they were chosen to write a particular story. Chirasree Bose is one of them.
“I believe it’s always the story that finds its writer. This novel conveys a very imperative message. I am highly grateful that it has chosen me as a means to reach people.”
The Inspiration Behind Chirasree Bose:
“I love Agatha Christie’s work. They are my all-time favorites. Also, I love Novoneel Chakraborty’s romance thrillers. Recently I read Twinkle Khanna’s ‘Mrs Funnybones’. I loved it. I would like to try my hand at writing a satire. She’s truly a talented writer.”
Advice for Aspiring Authors:
“I would like to say to all the aspiring authors that the whole concept of publishing is an overly hyped subject. About two months back, all I could think of was how I would publish my novel. However, once I have crossed that stage, I realised marketing your book is of more importance. You must know that there are hundreds of books being published every day in our country. You have got to figure out what makes your story stand out. And then you ought to scheme out the best marketing plan possible.
Believe in yourself, your story, and your dream. You will make it.”
