The Devil’s Prayer — By Luke Gracias

“History is written by the victors”. –  Winston Churchill

When we think of historical fiction, we invariably think about Dan Brown and the Indian Dan Brown – Ashwin Sanghi. These books generate a lot of curiosity mainly because of the hard hitting historical facts & the grilling research that these fabulous authors undertake. A lot of these facts are often too controversial as well. After all  history gets written & re written. But somehow the lines between fact & fiction start to fade away in these novels and the readers starts living in the story, in that moment, with those characters.

We have one such book for you. The Devil’s Prayer. The author has approached us all the way from Queensland – Australia, to review his book. Yes, and that means we only have an electronic version of this book.

Why read this ?

The book is a historical fiction, as mentioned. Has elements of horror, thriller and is set across Europe & Australia.

The Blurb goes like this,

A nun commits suicide in front of thousands in Spain. In Australia, Siobhan Russo recognises that nun as her mother, Denise Russo, who disappeared six years ago.

In search of answers, Siobhan travels to the isolated convent where her mother once lived. Here she discovers Denise’s final confession, a book that details a heinous betrayal that left her crippled and mute, and Denise’s subsequent deal with the Devil to take revenge. In the desperate bargain Denise made with the Prince of Darkness, she wagered Siobhan’s soul.

As Siobhan discovers the fate of her soul, she learns that hidden within the pages of her mother’s confession is part of The Devil’s Prayer, an ancient text with the power to unleash apocalyptic horrors.

And now her mother’s enemies know Siobhan has it.

Can Siobhan escape an order of extremist monks determined to get the prayer back? Can she save the world from its own destruction?
